For 3 generations, 2 cats and 1 dog living under one roof was a bit tight, so the grandparents decided to use a leftover corner from their property to get their own roof, building a house attached to the old one for themselves and their pets in this neighborhood adjacent the City of Zurich. Save this picture!© Bruno HelblingThe material of the house was clear from the beginning, a wood timber construction, but it took a while to realize what was needed.  This process of reducing and loosing ballast while keeping the building costs within a narrow range was reflected also in the project.  Due to the size of the plot, a vertical house was chosen. Knowing that with age stairs could become a challenge, big enough for safety and confort but small enough to fit in the room, the design of the stairs became crucial: a fine minimalist metal staircase with stainless steel net for protection was the answer. Around the stairs the house developed: the entry is on the street level, which also doubles as a laundry room, with the guest bath that doubles as a dog shower and house cats have their own access to the cellar for their needs.  Save this picture!© Bruno HelblingOn the ground floor, the living room can be fully opened up with foldable glass panels to the garden in the south. This brings the garden into the house, giving a roomy sense of openness despite the size. For the same reason kitchen and dining room has been kept to a minimum. Strategically placed vertical windows still let you see the street and not feel isolated. One bedroom has a secret door leading direct to the granddaughters’ room, making babysitting very easy.  Save this picture!© Bruno HelblingFinding a balance between white clean minimalism and the countryside rustic lead to the choice of material and color of the wood floor, and the material and color of the facade, that fit the re-disigned driveway paved with gravel. The patch of the new garden was kept very rustic and natural as well with stones and gravel, reducing maintenance and giving a new living space to native plants and animals. The project modernized and cleaned the look of both houses, giving them a distinctive face in this suburban surrounding form the 60’s.Save this picture!© Bruno HelblingProject gallerySee allShow lessTeabank / CrossboundariesSelected ProjectsMaya Lin Designs Urban Mansion in New YorkArchitecture News Share “COPY” ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOr Clipboard Switzerland CopyHouses•Dällikon, Switzerland Area:  107 m² Area:  107 m² Year Completion year of this architecture project CopyAbout this officeDaniele Claudio TaddeiOfficeFollowProductsWoodSteel#TagsProjectsBuilt ProjectsSelected ProjectsResidential ArchitectureHousesDällikonSwitzerlandPublished on January 22, 2016Cite: “The Autumn House / Daniele Claudio Taddei” 22 Jan 2016. Westwood leaving Sunderland

first_img Press Association The out-of-contract Republic of Ireland international, who missed much of last season with a shoulder injury, has become surplus to requirements at the Stadium of Light with Vito Mannone establishing himself as number one and Oscar Ustari providing the back-up since his arrival from Almeria in January. Press Association Sport understands 29-year-old Westwood, as expected, has not been offered a new deal and will now look to resurrect his career elsewhere after a largely frustrating three years on Wearside. The former Manchester City youth player joined the Black Cats on a free transfer from Coventry in July 2011, but managed just 24 senior appearances for the club with Simon Mignolet standing in his way for much of that time. Mignolet’s big-money departure for Liverpool last summer opened the door once again for Westwood, who had initially established himself as Ireland’s number one in the wake of Shay Given’s international retirement before a lack of first-team football persuaded then manager Giovanni Trapattoni to turn to Millwall’s David Forde. Westwood started 11 games for the club last season before injury struck in November, and has not been seen since. News of Westwood’s departure comes just a day after full-back Phil Bardsley severed his links with the club to join Stoke. Sunderland remain in talks with midfielders Jack Colback and Sebastian Larsson, who are also out of contract, although Colback in particular has suitors with derby rivals Newcastle among them. center_img Keeper Keiren Westwood is the latest man to leave Sunderland as head coach Gus Poyet re-shapes his squad. last_img read more
