HMD Global is really sticking to its promise of rapidly expanding its portfolio this year. After releasing around 10 smartphones already, the company looks like its in no mood to call it a day just yet. While we await its 2018 flagship Nokia phone which could bring a five-camera setup, HMD could bring a new Nokia X-series phone to Taiwan before that as per teasers that have started appearing on the company’s Taiwanese Facebook page. Based on recent reports, this phone could be the Nokia X7.While HMD is yet to confirm the name, the Nokia X7 is the likely candidate for launch since we recently started hearing about the phone after a leaked image revealed the front panel. As an X-series device, the X7 is expected to come with a notch and a 19:9 aspect ratio much like the Nokia X6 and X5. The X6 and X5 are known as Nokia 6.1 Plus and 5.1 Plus globally and have been launched in markets like India and Hong Kong. By that same logic, the Nokia X7 could be called the Nokia 7.1 Plus globally. We also expect this phone to come to India seeing as how HMD has spoken about India’s importance to the company for its growth. The success of the Nokia 6.1 Plus in India (being sold out in two flash sales so far) should also give HMD the confidence to launch its next notched device in the country as well.As of now, not much is know about the Nokia X7 apart from the fact that that it will sport a notch based on a leaked image of a panel that we saw a little while ago. This would make the third notched Nokia phone from the company in less than 12 months. A report back in June also suggested that the Nokia X7 is codenamed Phoenix and will fall in the upper mid-range segment. Notably, this could be the rumoured phone to be powered by a Snapdragon 710 chipset.advertisementSeparately, we are also seeing images off late of a Nokia phone with a penta-lens setup, which could be the Nokia flagship smartphone for 2018. While there is no date set for the launch of either of these two phones, it seems HMD is ready to cap off the year in style. The Nokia X7 is up next followed by the Nokia five-camera phone. We will know more on HMD’s plans in the days to come.
