Pregnant woman charged for accepting stolen phone

first_imgA pregnant woman made her appearance before City Magistrate Judy Latchman on Friday charged for knowingly accepting a stolen cellphone.Samantha Sam, 21, of Georgetown, denied that she obtained a Samsung cellphone; property of Elizabeth Percival, from another knowing same to be stolen or unlawfully obtained between November 2017 and January 2018.The prosecution is contending that on November 13, 2017, the Virtual Complainant (VC) and her sister were in their home when armed men broke in and robbed them of a quantity of articles including the phone valued $76,000.The matter was reported and Police acting on information received, the Cops went to the defendant’s home where she was found in possession of the phone.She told the Court that she received the phone from an “Amerindian man” who later left for the interior.She was granted $60,000 bail. Harps were defeated 1-0 by UCD earlier this evening at the Belfield Bowl.An instinctive finish from Robbie Benson in the second-half condemned Ollie Horgan’s side to defeat in what was a scrappy encounter. Harps lacked a cutting edge throughout and now face a huge game against Athlone at Finn Park on Friday.There was more woe for Harps off the pitch with Packie Mailey sustaining yet another injury as he hobbled off after the hour mark.Tommy McMonagle saw red late-on and he will now miss their crucial clash with Wexford Youths along with Damien McNulty, Ciaran Coll and Kevin McHugh.Harps entertain Athlone on Friday night and will hope they can return to winnings ways before their top of the table clash with Wexford Youths. Raiders steal cash and cigarettes from shop and post office

first_imgA Garda investigation has been launched after a raid on Lettermacaward post office.Raiders broke into the premises just after 2am and stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes.The post office also contains a shop which is known locally as Clerkins.
