Province seeks public feedback for new GHG Reporting and Control Act

first_imgThe act will solidify performance standards for industrial facilities or sectors –streaming several aspects of existing greenhouse gas regulation and legislation into one regulatory system.The new act will also include a greenhouse gas emissions benchmark for LNG facilities, said to be part of “the province’s commitment to having the cleanest liquefied natural gas operations in the world.”“Industrial operations have already been reporting GHG emissions since 2010 and that will continue,” a press release from the ministry of Environment reads. “The proposed new reporting regulation adds requirements to LNG operations and improvements based on stakeholders.”- Advertisement -Comments can be made until April 2015, at which point, the province will complete drafting the new regulation.The province is also in the process of developing two other regulations – offsets and compliance – under the new act.
