Ħal Far murder enough evidence for bill of indictment

first_imgMagistrate Ian Farrugia ruled on Tuesday that there is enough evidence for a bill of indictment against Lorin Schembri and Francesco Fenech, the two soldiers accused of the murder of Lassana Cisse Soulaymane.During the continuation of the compilation of evidence, a friend of the two accused related how he was with them in the car on the day of Lassana’s murder. He told on how the accused were insulting a dark skin toned man who was passing through Triq il-Ġebel and how they also charged at him after he shouted back at them. The same witness also declared that Francesco Fenech also told him how they had previously run over another dark skin toned man and even showed him pictures of a broken windscreen. The witness doubts that there is any report of this incident.Inspector Keith Arnaud who is also leading the prosecution also continued to report what the two accused had declared and what has transpired during the investigations.The Police sergeant that was stationed at Birżebbuġia and visited the murder scene as soon as the report came in also gave her witness. She told how when they drove into Triq il-Ġebel a dark skin toned man with blood on his jeans came out of an alley and told them that Maltese youngsters drove by and fired shots and him and his friend.In the previous hearing it was uncovered that the accused used to drive to Ħal Far to pick on migrants and that on the day of Lassana’s murder they had originally gone to seek a cat to shot.Lorin Schembri and Francesco Fenech are also being accused of committing a number of others offences.Prosecution is led by Inspectors Keith Arnaud and Trevor Micallef.Franco Debono and Kris Busietta are Lorin Scicluna’s legal representatives whilst Gianella De Marco is defending Francesco Fenech.
