first_imgWillie is declared winner and is through to the finalDonegal’s Willie McLaughlin has followed the success of fellow county man Jason Quigly by boxing his way to the final of the national championships.Illies boxer Willie will face defending men’s welterweight champion Adam Nolan next following his narrow win over Beijing 2008 John Joe Joyce.He beat Joyce, from St Malachy’s Athy, by 16-14 in the bout of the night in Dublin “Fair dues to Johnny it was a helluva fight,” said Willie afterwards.“I knew I was up against it, Johnny knew he was up against it.“It was a 50-50 fight and all credit to Johnny, he gave as good as he got. It’s a pity it wasn’t the final,” said McLaughlin.Tickets are now on sale for the Irish Daily Star sponsored Elite 2013 National Championships finals. The finals will take place at Dublin’s National Stadium on Friday, February 22nd.Tickets are available from the National Stadium. Moville U16’s narrowly denied in sensational final with Gaoth Dobhair

first_imgThe curtain came down on our u16s lads season on Saturday morning when they played Gweedore in the northern board Division one shield final. It was a fantastic game of football and both sides gave there all giving the conditions. Moville dominated for the majority of the game but a strong second half performance from Gweedore seen them get back into the game and when the final whistle went at the end they had registered 1 extra point to take home the silverware on the final score Moville 5-6 to Gweedore 5-7.  Although the lads were extremely disappointed at the end but the club and management are extremely proud of this bunch of players and of their achievements this season by winning the Inishowen league and competing in Division one in the county. Well done lads.This coming Saturday morning will be our last underage Saturday morning training and it finishes with our annual Christmas cup.  There will be 2 blitzes for mixed teams of  age 6/u8/u10 and u12/14 boys and girls followed by underage presentation. This promises to be a fun day with prizes and a special guest making an appearance so parents and everyone are invited to come along and watch the future talent of the club. Underage training will resume in January. Thanks to all the coaches and everyone who has helped out on Saturday morning throughout the year.On Sunday the attention switches to our minor ladies as they take on the County Down champions Bredagh in Ballykinler Co Down at 2pm in their Ulster semi final.
